I must admit, I was fairly pleased with Auto and General as my vehicle insurance provider. Friendly and helpful staff, an easy to use website and just all round professionalism have been greatly appreciated.
Yesterday however, I received my "annual increase" email from Auto and General. My insurance premium has increased 21% to R2, 000, and the real kicker - my excess has increased a whopping 217% from R4, 325 to R9, 400. I am stunned at this. I had made a claim previously for minor repairs to my vehicle after colliding with a road marker, but this claim was rejected by A&G due to the repairs being minimal in nature and not exceeding the excess. Are you seriously telling me that due to my REJECTED claim, my excess has more than doubled??? Is that even legal?
Anyway, suffice to say, I will be changing insurers immediately. There seem to be quite a few with far better premiums and excesses. I can't pay more for my insurance than I do for my actual car each month!!!
