Let us start with the fact that STANLIB does not have their own call centre or does not have it listed on their website.
Dialing the number 0860123003, supplied on the STANLIB website, you end up at the STANDARD BANK call centre where after going through numerous choice lists you end up selecting INVESTMENTS.
After waiting for close to 5 minutes the operator now informs you that this is the STANDARD BANK call centre and he will have to put you through to the STANLIB call centre for your next wait.

The purpose of the call is to query the fact that the withholding tax on a statement exceeds the 15% tax on local dividends.
The STANLIB operator informs you that this is something you should discuss with your tax practitioner.
You request to speak to a team leader in the hope that he/she would have a better understanding of the problem and end up back at the switchboard where you request to be switched through to the complaints department and lo and behold you are switched back to the call centre.

Call Centre operators should be provided with the facility to switch calls through directly to more experienced people when they are out of their depth.
