About 2 weeks ago I contacted Std Bank card division. I was previously under debt review, but had my debt reviewrescinded in August. My Standard Card payment was up to date as I always pay it on a monthly basis. I requested to have my card rescinded. I received an email stating that my card could be reinstated and I needed to go into a branch with ID, payslip, proof of residence and application form. When I got to the branch I was then told that I also had to provide a 3 month bank statement. Although this didnt make sense I then went to the effort to get the bank statement, which I took to the branch a week later, as I live in Centurion, but work in Joburg. After all this effort I get a phone call to say that my card application has been declined due to African bank reference. I was never nade aware in the 1st place that I had to go through the whole approvals process. If this was explained to me I would have explained my position with ABIL in the 1st place. Surely these people can see that my card has been paid monthly. surely they can see by my salary details that this is affordable to me. This is really poor service and I am extremely upset.
