I went onto the Ebucks travel site to get a quote for a flight on Emirates to Dubai. I am on discount level 5, meaning that I qualify for a 40% discount. On the Emirates flight, I got the flight for R8700 including return and all taxes. The Ebucks site came back with a fare in excess of R16000 for the same flight. So even with a 40% discount, the price on the Ebucks site is totally uncompetitive. What is the point of offering a 40% discount when the price is inflated by 100%.
A year ago, I used the Ebucks site to book a flight to Thailand via Dubai. The price I got on the Ebucks site was exactly equal to the price on the Emirates site. With the discount, it was a genuine benefit. Why has this changed???
