Lumpsum billed from my account with no notice

I took out a smart device with fnb in Nov 2012. I opted for insurance. I was told that I will be contacted and the terms and conditions will be e-mailed to me. I have not been contacted till September 2013. I decided to check if I was insured. They then told me I was not insured so I contacted the insurance and asked for the paperwork. To my Suprise an amount of 542 was deducted from my account on the 30th of Oct. I called fnb insurance to find out why .they told me that my policy was active since march and they are debiting for the other months as well. According to me I was not insured all along so y do I have to pay for the other months? Fnb please reverse my money asap and kindly start the insurance from end of November as I only received the paperwork now.
