Smart Device application rejected on Platinum Cheq

I had an existing smart account with FNB and got notified that I could upgrade to a Platinum Cheque account which was pre-approved. Wanting to take up the smart device offer for a long time, I upgraded. And soon after applied for a Macbook. After receiving numerous sms's stating that the application was in progress over the span of a week, I phoned in to check. Then I was promptly notified that I do not qualify as there are not yet any debit orders on this account?! How do you then do this for new customers?

If this is the case I would like for you to downgrade my account back to a smart account again!
