I have moved to new Zealand and I am having a mission closing my FNB bank account.
The move to new Zealand was not planned, it was an initial holiday that turned into a job opportunity.
I phoned the call centre and they told me to phone the branch. I did, and apparently the only way for me to cancel my account is to send a registered letter in the post. This is a modern age. Except for that, the post office has been on strike for 2 months. So no one has received my letter and in the meantime I have to pay bank fees that is costing me more money than my NZ bank account. I paid R200 for something I can't / don't use.
This is, as I am being forced to pay for a service that I don't want use, and I can't get it cancelled.
Please assist in this matter ASAP.
Thank you
Joy Nicholson (Victor)
