About 2 months ago I was looking to insure a newly acquired car. My wife had seen a TV advert for Discovery Insurance and suggested we try them. Due to the fact that l have serious hearing loss my wife did the phoning (she has excellent hearing)
After providing all the particulars of the car to be insured as well as my own, we were quoted R445.61 per month for full comprehensive cover with no excess plus a 25% refund of fuel purchased provided that the fuel was bought from a BP service station. So we asked if this applied only to fuel purchased for the insured vehicle or whether it was our total fuel purchases including diesel purchased for two small tractors. We were assured that it was for our total fuel purchases. We accepted the offer and an arrangement was made to send their technician to fit a tracker and to inspect my car. No refund was received at the end of the month and when we queried it we were told that a point system was in operation & l would receive a credit of about R40.00. During the initial conversation there was no mention of a point system & we were told that the conversation was being recorded. So this agreement is on record & there was no misunderstanding
