I have a personal loan at African Bank. When I was retrenched in May this year I applied for the instalment to be paid by the banks insurance. This was approved via letter on 27/06/2013, which states that they will pay the instalment for a period of 6 months (after which I have to give in bank statements again if I am still unemployed) and they started paying the instalment of R536.55 at the end of June 2013. On Saturday 21 September 2013 the instalment was taken from my bank account via debit order. Only 3 months have expired. The money that was in my account at the time when the debit order went off, was given to me by a friend to help feed my family. We are completely broke and I don't know where our next meal will come from.

On Monday 23 September 2013 I was told by the insurance claims dept. to fax a copy of my bank statement showing the debited amount, as well as a copy of my ID, and they will refund the money the same day. I waited and nothing happened. This morning I phoned and was told that their policy changed and that I need to apply again after 3 months. This is not what my contract states. I need my money today or I will open a case against them.
