I was unfortunately involved in a car accident and submitted a claim with Santam. I had recently taken out the policy and had paid two months premiums. This is risk cover for both parties, whether I pay premiums and don't claim and when I pay one premium and claim.
My vehicle value on my policy contract was valued at R52 000 but when the claim was submitted it was written off and settlement amount R36 000, firstly how's that possible of the two months?
My second claim once again, the system valued my vehicle at R54 000 and this car is as good as brand new but this is what it was valued at "system" once again. They've written it off because the repair costs are R32 000. Firstly the accurate value of the vehicle should be R65 000 - R70 000. What happened to "the total repair should not exceed 70% of the value of the vehicle"? Please allow them to explain.
Even with the first claim, they continued to deduct the full premium even when a claim was in progress and haven't refunded me until today. This all happened since April 2013 till current date.
My broker has been battling this issue for me and it's been frustrating him as well.
