A cash cheque of mine was dishonoured on the grounds "account does not exist". I queried this at the bank and was informed that, since I had not written a cheque for several months, an automatic block against my cheques had activated to prevent. When I asked why I had not been informed of this, I was told that due to volumes involved, the bank could not contact everyone affected. My gripe is that the bank has no issues with emailing me or texting me on a daily basis about new products, activity on my account etc. but do not find it important to inform me that my cheques are not currently valid and that I need to have the block removed before writing another cheque. This is embarrassing and totally unacceptable and could result in someone being blacklisted.
