Before their premium increase in September I requested a copy of my policy document from Candice Sanderson in order to compare other quotes. I was unhappy with the fact that premium increases happened twice in one year - April and September! On 5 September, I was phoned by their retention department wanting to know why I am cancelling my policy with AF!! I told the guy that I wasn't cancelling it yet, but that I was shopping around. He would have referred the matter to management to see whether they could do something about my policy. On Wednesday, I received a mail from Elvis Modisha with a cancellation letter attached! Both the communication on the 5th as well as the letter, mentioned that I'm instructing AF to cancel the policy. They are welcome to listen to any conversations I've had with Candice, but such an instruction was never given to AF. I haven't had time to get more than 1 quote so far, but if AF is not interested in a non-claiming (thus far), paying policy holder, I'm happy to get an insurer who will accept us as clients. It is an insult to my right to shop around (and be honest about it) for better or similar premiums. I was honest enough to communicate my intentions.
