My mother died quite a while ago and I never claimed for the policy that I had paid up for our family. Both my brother and I agreed as I paid for the policy I should claim for it. At the time I phoned and was told as it is a very old policy, one where you paid and had slips put into a book that it was only worth R1200. In event I forgot about it as it was such a small amount and her cremation cost Us R4500. I recently repacked some docs and found the copies of the papers of which I had not claimed. I phoned them and the lady in Cape Town told me that I had to take the docs to Metropolitan in Fox street and that the policy was worth R2935. I was happy with that so I proceeded to Metropolitan and there the nightmare started. Not only did I not have the correct information I must now get the court in Town to stamp documents I was not made aware of. And I felt like I was trying to this money which I had paid over the years. This policy started in 1/7/1970. And then this person tells me the policy is only worth R1695.02. Really so Metropolitan you win and get to keep the money. I wonder how many other people you treat like this.
