My VW is towed on 24/07/2013 after a bumper bash. Turns out, car is towed to a Salvage yard in Boksburg. Days later, a panel beater in Benoni (I live: Pretoria) - not VW approved. Submit evidence to prove my claim - twice. All ok'd. Hear nothing for a month - no messages returned. Day 29 of 30, my car is 'ready' at panel beater (90km's away). Perfect timing, rental car goes back on day 30, coincidence? No repairs had been done, and were clearly visible - only a paint-job on front and back bumper. I refuse to take possession of my vehicle, DI's attitude is 'its not their problem'. Nag for 2nd assessment - find 'unseen' damage (photos prove a lie). Find particular internal damage that I queried, too. DI refuse accountability for delays and vehicle damage ignored and your additional costs to roadworthy your car (after repairs). Not an issue for them that assessment inaccurate, use of xxx parts or not VW approved, shoddy repair work. (Not counting costs if you still need car hire). 'It's not Discovery Insure's fault - it was the tow-truck driver (they preauth'd), the repairer (on their panel, but chosen by the towing company?) and the assessors (also their panel)'. Amateurs.
