Firstly I would like to say that in my opinion, Home Insurance should cover unforeseen accidents after all that's what We as home owners are paying for.
I've been through the complaints and it seems as if SAHL certainly does not value their customers. There are numerous others on this website facing the exact problem I am, a rejected claim which isn't uncommon for SAHL.
I recently lodged a claim for my concrete fencing which was leaning forward and was going to fall soon, I dealt with Nicolette Knock and was informed that their contractor would be sent out to assess the damage. I later called Nicolette and was advised that my claim had been rejected. The wall had been standing perfectly for 10 years prior to this. I cannot understand how the claim was rejected when the contractor didn't even dig in to see if the fencing had a foundation etc. On 26 Aug 2013 there was severe winds and my concrete fencing was blown down leaving my pool area easily accessible from the road to criminals and also being a danger to kids and animals.
In my opinion an expert on concrete fencing shouldve be sent out to access this but then again it is common for SAHL to reject claims.
