My husband and I had three bonds with ABSA. One of the consultants at the Atlasville branch advised me that I could put these bonds in safe keeping and would be able to access these bonds at any time by coming into the bank and signing a form and within a day or two these bonds would be accessible again.
I duly put these bonds into safe keeping.
We then decided to buy another house. When I went into the bank and tried to activate these bonds I was told that I would have to re-apply as if it were a new bond. I did this but as this took so long we lost the house we had put an offer in on.
In the meantime the process went ahead and my husband was advised telephonically that the bonds were approved. No further communication. No letters and no emails to confirm one phone call. We were not advised how we should proceed and assumed that all was well and that the money was available again.
We have now put in an offer on another house only to find that all three bonds were granted and as we did not take the money they were duly closed again.
I cant understand this. Where should we have taken the money to at that stage. Now we have another house and the money is gone again.
