I have trying to dematerialise some shares. I paid the required fee on 7 June. Despite faxing and e-mailing (twice!) the required documents, I have not even received the indemnity form to fill in yet. I have three times been told that it has been posted, and had to follow up twice only to be told that it has in fact not been posted, but will now - this is blatant dishonesty. The problem is exacerbated by dealing with a different person every time.
I am not alone in these frustrations as my husband has been trying since May to sell some Sanlam shares. He sends through requested documents, hears nothing, phones to follow up, is told to we need to send some more (different) documents, sends them, phones to follow up... ad nauseam in an eternal cycle.
We are selling all our direct share-holdings now so that we never to experience the stress of dealing with this Company again.
