Different information for a claim

We have a claim of our late mother and we were asked to submit some documents, they wanted my baptismal certificate of which I've lost, called and told them and the guy I spoke (pity I can't remember his name) said I must do affidavit or unabridged certificate and suggested iI do affidavit as unabridged takes forever, I did it and faxed it to them and they said I must call after a week to check how far they are with the claim. Called Wed, 14th and there was nothing done, when I told the lady said the affidavit is not gonna work, told her the guy said it will work but unfortunately I was given false information by someone who supppse to know the procedure. Now the process is taking longer and longer because of different information and now I'm the one who's suppose to wait.
