Making Clients pay for THEIR mistakes

A debit card payment done at a local butchery was deducted double, on separate date. Called customer care, agent said it will be reversed. Next day amount was indeed reversed. Then they billed us R120 honouring fee, afterwards another R0.33 overdraft interest fee and on the 31st another R57 for overdraft service fee. The last mentioned amounts were deducted because of the double deduction of money, which led to the fact that we did not have that specific amount in the account. I complained on Facebook, got an insufficient reply. Called customer care again, a guy explained everything and said we must go to the branch and they'll reverse the amounts as it is not our fault that one amount was deducted double. My husband went to the branch in Ermelo, the lady who helped him in the end said it's not Std Bank's fault or problem, we must go ask the butchery for the money which was deducted for fees as a result of the money deducted double. How nice is that? Branch personnel's words and reasons very different from the customer call centre's agents? The amount deducted in fees = R 177.33, which was not supposed to be? We want our money back. Elite Gold Cheque Account holders treated like this? No thanks.
