AON Failure to compensate for personal injury

I was employed by Jump/Euro RSCG as an extra on a film shoot for Peugeot in central Cape Town. The contract assured me that I was included in the production insurance. The insurance company was AON South Africa, who claim to be the leading provider of insurance in this country. During the process of the film shoot my leg was gashed in two places and my ankle broken. I was incapacitated for three months over Christmas and have been left with some quite serious debilitating after effects. AON have refused to pay compensation for Trauma, Pain, Suffering and Inconvenience over this time. They have refused to put this refusal in writing! I was told by my agent and and a director of Euro RSCG that it was pointless trying to sue AON as they would employ top lawyers who would ensure that I would lose the case and would have to pay their and my own legal costs. It has taken a long time after much ducking and diving by AON to realise that I stand little chance of any compensation. I am a 77 year old pensioner who was very fit when this happened but this fitness has now left me and my life has changed dramatically. Eg No weekly hiking or home maintenance.
