Yesterday 10 thJuly 2013 my son went to the Sandton City branch and deposited money into my account. Later the same day I received 6 SMS messages stating that my Notify Me service details had been changed by someone at the branch. WHY??? This was done without my permission and amounts to as it would appear that the person intended gaining access to my account and then having the alerts sent to a different cell number. I reported the matter to ABSA's department who said they could not help me. I also reported it to the customer complaint number 0800414141. Tembi promised to log my report and get back to me with a reference number. I am still waiting!! I have documented all these telephone calls with the date and time of the call so that the recordings will be easily sourced. Now today I am suddenly receiveing Notify Me messages for all my accounts which is not what I want. WHO GIVES THAT EMPLOYEE THE RIGHT TO CHANGE MY DETAILS WITHOUT MY PERMISSION??? I suspect rfraud and if I do not receive a proper reply to this complaint I will be escalating the matter by laying a formal charge with the South African Police.
