Over limit and exorbitant charges on credit card

Every month i pay my credit cards on time and this month was no different. I travelled over the weekend and used my petrol card for the toll fees on Friday the 4th July. The transactions did not go off the card until this morning the 10th July. i then receive an sms and email this morning advising that i have exceeded my limit on my card and must pay R441 to ensure good account status. When i log onto pay the R441 i am very disappointed to see that the reason i am over limit by this amount is that a card fee of R324 has gone off my card which obviously will take the card over the limit as well as an over limit fee of R230 .
it is however very disappointing that you receive an sms and email advising to make payment but are already charged for the over limit amount without even being given an opportunity to make the payment. there is no prior sms or email to advise that the card fees will be going off so how are you to ensure you have enough credit on the card to maintain same.
this is very disappointing in that i am a long standing good customer of FNB yet we are charged exorbitant fees for what i don't really understand as we pay interest every month... but that's FNB for you.
