I have 2 accounts with Standard Bank (Savings and Credit Card account).
Last Friday I tried to withdraw funds from my Savings account into which my salary was paid, but the ATM swallowed my card.
On Saturday morning I went to my nearest branch (Centurion Lifestyle Centre) and asked for a new card which I received. What the lady behind the counter did not tell me is that they have disconnected the inter-account link between my 2 accounts so I could not (via the ATM) access the funds in my savings account with my credit card as I always used to do. I went back into the bank and they connected the accounts again. (I haven't tested if this works since their ATM's were down this weekend). I had to withdraw cash at the counter!
Whilst at the branch I also requested that they must activate my internet banking account since you can't really use it unless your salary is paid into it. When I tried to access my internet banking tonight, I can't because they have changed my details!!! The fact that inter-account transfer takes 24 hours to clear (your own money!) is not making me feel any better. I should have changed to another bank ages ago - this has now really motivated me to do so!
