My Savings account was automatically changed over to an "Access Account". This was done without my knowledge, and I had to struggle for 3 days to access my funds in this account. This is part of my total annoyance with this whole change. The plot thickens... I went to the branch and enquired what the story is, to which I was issued with a new debit card and linking my account to the cheque account which is my primary account. Ah! So, happy as a chappy off I go and try to purchase goods with my debit card from the funds in my access card. Surprised I was when this was declined. In checking, I noticed the card machine does not provide an option to select "savings", so whatever you do you pay from the cheque account. I cannot understand the logic in naming this an "Access" account if you cannot ACCESS ANYTHING?! Why do I want to have a debit card and a cheque card then? I can just as well close the account! This was a idea, like most things banking industry do - get a bee in their bonnet and forget to test and validated its adequacy first before implementing it.
