I've always known ABSA as the bank with the worst telephone etiquette and ridiculous hoops in their Call Centers and dreaded having to phone them to inquire about new cards.
I phoned the call center who transferred me 3 times to different people who could not help me. Finally got someone to tell me i need to go to a branch. I phoned the branch closest to me to see if they can assist and they directed me to Sandton. At the Sandton branch I got transferred 4 times, and two of those where to the same person.
Luckily one of the people, Lebo is cards, helped me with a friendly laugh in her voice and pleasant demeanor. She is an absolute star and the only reason I wont cancel my account with ABSA.
ABSA, please fix your Customer Service. Invest in your staff such as Lebo. And educate the rest of your people to not be rude and unhelpful.
