I received an sms on the 24 June to say i need to pay R468 by 18 July 2013. I did an EFT on same day, 24 June of R500. Then I received an sms during month of July to say I need to pay R468 by 18 July, if paid I should ignore. I ignored the sms due to knowing that I already paid. On the 19 July I received an sms saying there's an outstanding fee of R966. I called Discovery after receiving my statement on e-mail. There was R220 charged for late payment. I asked the lady I spoke to why that was charged when I payed the day I got an sms. I usually get these sms around 24/25 of every month and I would make a payment on either day depending when I got paid.
The lady told me that the payment i did is charged as late payment because I should make paymentes after the 24th. The statement just shows a statement date of 24th and not a biling cylcle to indicate when I should and shouldn't pay. I find it upsetting that I have to pay R220 late payment whereas I already paid, well in advance.
