Regret Changing Insurance to SIL

Involved in an accident on 23 April 2013. To lodge claim took 3 days.By 30 April contacted by SMB to say car written off and car being taken by them. Contacted SIL they werent aware of this. Had to send email demanding explanation this was Last contact received from SIL. On Friday 28 June phoned them asking for status of claim. No one knows what is going on.By the response I am getting I might end up paying the insurance for a vehicle they have decided is uneconomical to repair and to be written off. The attorneys are suing the third party but no one can say for what. This morning 6 July receive correspondence saying I requested my policy to be cancelled. I have done no such thing. WHAT THE IS GOING ON?!?!?!
Have sent repeated correspondence with questions and getting wishy washy responses.
I demand proper answers and explanations.
