I visited a FNB branch today to close my credit card. Having checked online this morning that the balance was R0.01 I expected no complications in closing this credit card. On 26 July I paid R185 over the minimum instalment, and then cleared the outstanding amount on 03 July 2013. You can imagine my surprise when I was told there is still an amount outstanding of R124! I spoke to a team leader/ manager in the call centre who promised an escalation an en email (which I had to repeatedly request). Now the matter has been escalated. I trust FNB will do the honourable thing and actually refund me the R60. (balance between the instalment and the "outstanding" amount"). Really, with any other financing you get any "early settlement discount"...
