Middle of the month Arrears payment?

I have been receiving calls from unknown numbers the whole of last week. They finally left a voicemail message and on the message I was informed to contact the collections department regarding my credit card. When I called, the lady that picked up informed me that they were phoning me as my account was in arrears and I need to make the payment urgently. I advised the lady, that my payment is only due the end of the month, and that is when it will be paid she advised me that no no, my statement closes on the 16th of every month and this is when the payment needs to be made? She said that when i signed up, the consultant would have discussed this with me and I would have chosen this. Firstly, my application was done online, and I received a sms to send documents and then an sms to collect my card, I never once spoke to a consultant, so therefore this was never confirmed nor discussed with me, and secondly, who would choose to pay in the middle of a month when one only gets paid the end of the month? I do not like being accused of being arrears and not paying my account and I want this changed with immediate effect, also, interest has now been added to the account? I am livid!!
