I recently opened an FNB gold cheque account. I was attracted to FNB by their really good smart device deals. So, excited to get an iMac, I applied as soon as I got my online banking activated. Today I receive and SMS to say my application has failed because my "credit criteria" wasnt met. I called the smart device sales team to request clarification since I have NO credit issues (im a recent graduate with 1 year working experience and ZERO debt). I was not given a real answer as to why my credit rating is insufficient. I was told to contact Transunion (which i did) only to find my record is clean. I feel to by FNB and am considering closing the account and sticking with Standard Bank (who will eventually offer similar deals). Thanks FNB
