The email from Absa to which my credit card statement was attached contains a paragraph which reads as follows:
"Foreign currency transactions
Do you receive or pay any foreign currency from South Africa or use your credit card overseas? If so, the changes to the SARB regulations will affect you.
For further information, visit [URL Removed] or contact your nearest branch or the Helpline on 0860 151 151."
I did indeed visit the website and searched "changes to SARB regulations", but to no avail.
I then emailed the Absa Official email and received this gem:
"Kindly note that I am unable to assist you with your query via email request as I can only resend and view eStatements.
For further information regarding foreign currency transactions, please visit [URL Removed] or contact your nearest branch or the Helpline on 0860 151 151.
Should you require further assistance regarding eStatements, please feel free to contact me via email at [Email Removed] or do not hesitate to contact the call centre again on 08600 08600 (27 (27 11 501 5110)."
I refuse to go through the frustrating process of dealing with the call centre and trust that HelloPeter will elicit an answer.
