Attempt not to pay claim

Letter to inform claim will not be honoured, written 22 March 2013. Posted 24 April 2013... THIS IS SUSPECT.
On 16 December 2012, I had a burglary at my home. The place was trashed, and amongst other items, the entire safe were removed. This was highly traumatic.
All evidence shows that the burglars gained access to the property prior to me leaving. The alarm system was tampered with, and evidence shows that the house was broken out of. All physical damage to an entrance was to the inside.
ABSA claims that since the alarm wasn't activated, they will not pay out. This is HOGWASH. Surely, the clause, insisting on a working, and armed alarm should have been waivered in this case. ABSA Insurance chose to ignore all the physical evidence, as well as the report from Crime Intelligence regarding this matter.
The dating of their letter, and posting date is highly suspicious.
I insist that my claim, which I feel is in every possible aspect legit, be paid out without delay.
How can a financial institution waist almost 5 months to inform me?
They only did the assessment a month after the burglary, 14 January 2013. This is also unacceptable.
I want immediate and positive resolve!
