After a Burglary in December, we put in a claim with Zurich whereby the assessor confirmed that there was a working alarm and we had suffered a "genuine loss". Zurich however disputed the claim over a wording of "alarm warrant" which to the layman would mean that the alarm is in perfect working order, but to them it meant linked up to an alarm company. What's strange is that the so called link up was only to be put in place if there was no burglar proofing. Yet we had proved without a doubt that the house is secured with the top of the range trellidoors and a 12 lock steel safe door. They claimed that we did not have any burglar proofing and trellidoors without even inspecting the place. After we proved them wrong on that instance they relied on the wording on the policy to get them out of paying.
