First National Bank
How can you charge me for reversing your mistake?

We have a business account with FNB and we recently got targeted by a ring who tried getting merchandise using a fake proof of payment. When we refused to courier the goods they made a payment of R769.25 by cheque at an atm. I was then advised by police that they were trying to money out of our account using a cheque. I never knew it was as easy as depositing a cheque into someones account to get money out of their account.
We brought this to the banks attention immediately and all they could suggest was moving all our funds into the "stash" account so that the criminal cant reverse the amount into their account.

The next morning we found that FNB had reversed the amount and my balance was - R769.25. When I complained about this and told them its unacceptable that they took the amount off after we already reported the cheque they offered to fix the mistake. Which they did, only to charge me R100 cheque upliftment fee and a R95 overlimit fee as well as R16 cheque deposit fee. We were then told this would be reversed as we shouldnt have to pay, but its been weeks and nothing has been replaced.
