Payment of Crdeit card

My credit card expired in 2009 and I still had a balance of R11 000. I phoned Absa and ask them not to send me a new card. I also made an arrangement to pay the balance off in monthly instalments of R720.00. I started making payments and after paying about R9000 my balance was still R10000. I phoned Absa to enquire but up to today I have heard nothing from them. After numerous phone calls and visits to the bank they still did not get back to me. All I requested from them was a detailed statement as to why my balance is not coming down. I stopped making payments. They handed me over to RL Daly attorneys. I recently made another payment of R1200 but my balance stays basically the same. I want to finish this account but I am not to pay more I should. Absa bank (rip off)
