On 2 May I wrote complaining that ABSA charges me R41.50 bank charges each month, even when I don't use the credit card. On 3 May I was contacted by ABSA & told that they would waive this monthly fee for me, even if I did use the credit card. I then changed my complaint to a 'compliment' as follows (ABSA check it out on the website if you wish):
Quite Impressed: I was contacted by ABSA last week. They agreed to waive the monthly credit card charge and also advised me that if I made fuel purchases using my ABSA credit card I will not pay the R3.85 transaction fee which other banks (Standard Bank and FNB) do charge. Apparently this is standard practice. I will definitely be using my ABSA card for fuel purchases from now on.
All was well for May & June, but today my credit card statement for July says I owe R82.00 for BANK CHARGES. Not only that, I had been on holiday in July and on return quickly paid a debit balance of R42.50, forgetting I am not supposed to be paying anything at all as I have not used the card for the past 6 weeks.
How soon you forget ABSA! Please adjust my balance to read R42.50 CREDIT and make sure your staff & system do not charge me fees again.
