This week I registered online for Standard Bank Ucount rewards programme, To register I had to provide my ID number - this then defaulted through other information email/address etc. I am an existing Standard Bank client but the default information was at least 5 years old - with no option to update it.

I called the Ucount helpline to update my details. My thinking that in 2013 on providing security info this should be simple. I was told that I have to go into the branch to Enquiries to do this.

I work full time, the last time I visited Enquiries at Northgate to collect my card was on a Sat morning (only suitable time) stood for nearly 2 hours while 2 consultants (out of 5 desks) slowly served everyone - one size fits all Q. I WILL NOT GO TO THE BANK AGAIN! In this day and age you should not have this inconvenience - at least that's why Steve keeps suggesting I change to FNB. Maybe I will. They at least work electronically in 2013.

I don't know what irritates me more - the fact that the database they are using for this new scheme is so outdated or that they cannot sort telephonically. You will encounter this problem with anyone whose details have changed in 5 years.
