My dad is selling his car privately (Based in JHB), to an interested buyer based in KZN. The buyer needed finance and so we initiated the process with Standard Bank KZN. The buyer informed us that the transaction needs to be facilitated by an approved dealer on behalf of Standard Bank and charges averaged on R5000.
My dad then called our JHB bank branch where the call centre person (Jack) said that NO this is not the story. They only have an initiation fee, monthly admin fee etc - small charges - NOTHING about needing a dealership. What the?!!? And both branches are adamant in what they are saying! We dont know what to believe!
This is a huge extra cost and we would hate to waste money over Standard Bank not properly informing NATIONWIDE staff about WHATEVER the procedure is so ALL can be ALIGNED and know whats going on!
We called the KZN branch again where Lorna Wilson spoke to us. She was initially very polite but at one point while my dad just interrupted her (NOT in a rude way at all!) she snapped back saying "can I talk?!! " - THE CUSTOMER IS KING!!! No matter what you treat them with respect!! Pathetic manners! A "slap on the wrist" is very necessary here!
