Hidden Policy Terms

I took up comprehensive cover with Anderson's on 01/05/2013.
When I got the quotation from Killian Brokers, I specifically asked about the excess and I was told it was R3000 for claims below R30, 000, then 10% of the claim amount when it's over R30K.

Unfortunately, I got into a slight accident on the 5th, and when I requested a claim form, they decided to also send the policy documents, which turned out to have a lot more excess terms apart from the basic one.

After having completed the claim, I received an excess letter that required more than 50% of the claim amount as excess (FYI Claim amount was - R36, 000)

I feel I was cheated because these terms were never communicated when I was signing up.

It's as if they intentionally leave them out so you can sign up.

Very disappointed!
