Misrepresentation of products on offer

I went to the Standard in Rosebank, a few months ago to try and get a small loan for some debts. But I was declined. The consultant during this time convinced me to open a standard bank cheque account where transaction will only incur R100 a month as I was very concerned about my poor financial state. Furthermore, she advised that I open a small savings account.
I have since not used the cheque account, made any transaction on it or even gotten a bank card. I received a call from the call centre, saying i owe R800 on this account.
I explained that i had not even used the card as yet and it was understanding before signing, that, i will be charged once i start making transactions. She said she cant help me and I cant close my account until i pay up. i cant pay this amount, She said, every month money will added until I pay up.
I dont have an address, i explained this to her. She said that the demand letter will go to my previous address and legal action will be taken if i dont respond. I find it incredibly shocking that even without a bank card or having made not one transaction, I owe so much. I wanted to find a way out of debt but this bank is only focused on cheating us poo
