I applied for a new credit card through ABSA, as the previous acc was paid up, but been unused for too long and told it would take 3-5 working days, having told the consultant that I would be leaving for CT. After almost 2 weeks, I left for CT and on my arrival, requested the card be couriered to their Athlone branch in CT. I arrived in CT on 22 Dec - my card arrived at their Athlone branch on 12 Jan - a day before I had to leave. This after numerous calls to their call centre with conflicting messages.
On arrival at the branch, I was told they could not give me the card as they needed my ID and were unwilling to accept the copy I had or my dirvers' license.
I was assured by Heidi Japhta, she would courier the card back to Fourways as a matter of urgency and would call me Monday to confirm. I received the call from her on Mon to confirm my card would be at the branch on Tue at 15h30. What can I say - no card. Nathaniel Timm told me the card was on the system - could I come back the next day.
2 days later I was refered to the Cust Service mgr who looked at me with expressionless eyes and said she was sorry as the card was sent back to CT. Still waiting on ANY communication.
