POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE

I lost my silver credit card and I was not aware that it had already expired. I have been receiving my statements though, I then went to Absa Phokeng Branch in Rustenburg to apply for a new one. I was then told that I will receive a new one after 3 working hours. After 7 working days I called the branch to find out about my new card and I was told that the card has not arrived yet. I then called card Absa card services to find out from them but I was told that my card had been rejected because it has exprired and I must also submit proof of resident. I was also told that I must pay the remaining balance and apply for a new card. Why wasn't I told at the branch when I went to apply for a new one? Why didn't the branch call the head office to find out about the delay?
