On 15 November 2012 we instructed Standard Bank in writing to close our 2 accounts. Needless to say it did not do so and as we received subsequent statements charging us "overdraft service fee", "monthly management fee" and "interest" we sent a further letter on 3 April 2013. Much to our shock, but not to our surprise knowing the Bank's incompetence, a further statement dated 20 April 2013 again been received with the additional charges and we now "owe" Standard Bank R460.50!!
Why does Standard Bank find it so difficult to act on a client's simple written instruction to close an account??
Next thing we will be "blaclkisted" and reported to the credit bureaus for being a delinquent customer!!
