I am a valued ABSA customer. All my accounts are with them including mortgage and 2 vehicles on finance. I sold my house in JHB and moved to Cape Town. I applied for a mortgage through an bond originator as it was easier for me than to go to all the banks individually. ABSA came back with a ridiculous valuation way below other banks and request a 20% deposit. This house is basically the same price I bought a house 1 year ago in JHB and I could give 10% deposit. I as a customer have not changed. No valuator was even sent to the house to do a proper valuation. Now that I am questioning it now we have to get other valuations from other banks to justify the purchase price. Well I think I had it with ABSA, I will just close all my accounts with them and move to to the bank that is willing to give me a proper service. One more valued client lost ABSA, I hope you feel proud! Luckily I do not just threaten! Why not send someone out like all the other banks to do a proper valuation. Lazy bunch at ABSA, they are not too big to fall. I hope lots of people move to other banks!
