Poor, unacceptable customer services

I flew BA 6409 on Thursday 21st march from Johannesburg to Cape Town. I checked in online 24 hours before with my boyfriend to ensure that we had our desired seats next to each other. We printed our boarding passes as arrived at the gate 40 minutes prior to departure. British Airways had overbooked and we were rudely informed that there are seat shuffling and we would not be seated next to each other.

When I queried this, the lady at the boarding gate, rude, unhelpful and sarcastic, told me I won't be sitting with my boyfriend, even though I checked in online and had seats, and I should really get over it. She only replied to some of my questions and made it perfectly clear I was wasting her time. Furthermore, she made rude, comments as I left and refused to give me her name when I asked for it.

On the plane I sat between two single travellers. I'm not really sure why it was the case that my tickets had to be shuffled around when other people's didn't. The online check in system does not seem to mean anything and the staff are balantly rude and unhelpful.
