So I accept a job in Gardens and decide to travel via public transport: Train to town, Myciti to Gardens and back. When purchasing my so-called refundable ticket I wasn't offered a receipt - and trust me, they won't refund you without one. They also didnt tell me that I would be paying card charges to ABSA. I paid R1.50 on an R11 recharge, to use one example. On top of that, i wasnt explained to how the card works: there are a number of "beeps" that sound off if your balance is getting low. I also dont have a list of bus credit providers, so I didnt know where to top up my card. The drivers assume that the passengers know all these things and become rude when they're asked for assistance. One of them muttered under his breath that he didnt know why those people werent doing their jobs properly, referring to the ticket sales office. Friends from abroad were here and used the bus service too. I was given their tickets because they still had credit on them. They are now on a zero balance, I cant recharge them without the pin, and i cant return them to get the deposit back. Myciti should be called my bus. A GREAT concept being ruined by a bunch of lazy, untrained staff members.
