We signed, but cancelled and still got charged

My Wife & I were on honeymoon in Ballito when we went for a presentation for Flexi Club. They explained everything to us and asked some questions. Then we decided after they sweet talked us into taking 2000 points at a much lower price than originally quoted. We gave a cash deposit of R1150 & got our information package. We spoke to some family members & decided that we are going to cancel. Upon our departure, we gave them the info pack back and advised them of the cancellation, the lady asked if they have the bank details to return our deposit. Upon arriving back from Durban, I typed out a cancellation letter stating our reasons for the cancellation and e-mailed it to Flexi Club, my wife, her godfather and myself from my moms e-mail. I didn't hear anything from them, until last night when a debit order for the R4560 deposit was returned unpaid from my account. I cancelled the membership within the 5 day cooling off period, but still haven't received my cash deposit back and seems like I am still liable for the membership. We feel we got bullied into it. We cancelled it and now must still pay? I feel I am not obligated to pay for something I DO NOT WANT!
