I travelled from George to Joburg on 6/1/14. I paid R1015 for a Sleepliner ticket. Without notification the coach was changed to a Mainliner. I sat in Seat 2 and overheard all conversations the staff (Darryl, Leslie and Maria) had with head office and each other. We were told TWICE by the hostess, Maria, over the PA that Intercape apologises for the inconvenience, and that we must please phone customer care the next day to be refunded the difference between our very expensive tickets and what we got. When I phoned, I was told today that they will NOT refund the difference, so I have been forced to pay TOP PRICE for a ticket worth half as much. I have rheumatoid arthritis, am never supposed to sit upright for so long. The journey caused me severe pain and discomfort - which I can put up with, if our coach indeed had a 'problem' as we were told. However, as there were travellers on our bus with Sleepliner tickets aswell as Mainliner tickets, and we had to leave passengers who had tickets (and children!) in Graaf-Reinet in the middle of the night, it is clear that Intercape overbooked and now benefits nicely from keeping all that Sleepliner ticket money. Absolutely shameful.
