Yesterday I booked a one-way ticket from George to Cape Town at R1, 294. Silly old me, I thought that's what I would pay. So when Travelstart's Booking Confirmation mail came through, I didn't think to scroll down to the part where they tell me I'm actually going to pay R1, 343. This I smartly noticed when my credit card sms arrived while I was sleeping last night.
Now I don't expect Travelstart to operate as a charity. But hey, isn't that where airlines' kick-back policies kick in? What I really object to is that Travelstart's site doesn't give any indication on it's landing page that in ADDITION to the ticket/s you're about to buy, a SERVICE FEE will be payable to them. Now who would object to that?
O, there was a glib reference to it in the mail they sent me last night: "Please note that you will find separate charges on your credit card. The ticket prices are charged by the airline (s) directly. Our service fees (and Travel Extras, if selected) are charged by Travelstart. The amounts add up to the total amount you confirmed on our website."
No, actually I never confirmed it on their website. I confirmed it (stoopidly) in a mail. Anyway, last time they'll ever catch me!
