I flew into OR Tambo yesterday, Kulula flight from George MN914. I was travelling with two miniature pinschers.
The plane landed on time and I was at the luggage pick up at 20:40, expecting to see the fragile items and pets being brought through shortly. However all the luggage was cleared from the carousel and all the bikes, golf bags and miscellaneous items were brought out from the hold first. The dogs only arrived at the end after a long wait; at 21:15 - traumatized from being left on the tarmac.
While I was waiting I made repeated requests at the Kulula luggage kiosk for assistance. A very disinterested "Teboho" said that at this airport the policy was pets come last... Now this is not the message that your call centre is giving, according to them, pets board last and disembark first to reduce stress.
Despite my repeated appeals to the lone BidAir luggage handler who was bring out hold luggage at a pace of one trolley every ten minutes he refused to bring the dogs. In fact he arrogantly challenged me to lodge a complaint if I had issues.
I find this treatment of passengers human and animal on the part of Bidair and Kulula to be cruel and disgraceful!
